Frameworks help structure our metrics and have a process to reduce complexity. One of these frameworks I value the most is scientific, empirical Evidence-Based Management (EBM)*
My experience with EBM started in 2015. Since then, I have enjoyed contributing to value measurement and goal setting in several organizations, seeing it from a practical perspective rather than a theoretical one.
In a nutshell, the framework consists of several components:
- Three Types of Goals
- Key Value Areas
- Key Value Metrics
- Experiment loops to reach goals
Key Value Metrics are exemplary, so you can use your product-related metrics to measure value. However, I found it useful to be inspired by the EBM propositions. Also, for organizations that need help knowing where and how to start with EBM, these metrics are great as a starting point.
I decided to share the branded Key Value Metrics with the community as cards I use for my courses and to introduce the concept to organizations.
